The Times and The Sunday Times best places to stay guide focuses on the things that really matter, hotels with the essentials of comfort, great service and value, as well as personality and warmth.

Hector Ross, Founder of The Signet Collection, comments: “I am astonished and totally delighted that The Retreat at Elcot Park has been honoured as the Best Place to Stay in the UK by The Times and The Sunday Times. Since opening The Retreat in June, we have enjoyed fantastic support from both our local community, those visiting from across the England and all over the world. The Signet Collection is all about creating memorable experiences in time honoured places, with exquisite food, unparalleled service and informality of design. This award is a wonderful recognition of our vision coming to life. We are all about our people and so this is a real testament to our Retreat team’s incredible efforts.”

Claire Irvin, Head of Travel at The Times and The Sunday Times, comments: ‘Best Places to Stay 2023 is a celebration of the incredible properties we have here on home soil and, most importantly, the hard-working teams that have made each one of them such a singular success. Our recommendations are not easily won and all 100 hotels in this year’s list – particularly The Retreat at Elcot, our deserving overall winner – should be extremely proud of the guest experience they’ve created.’

In 2023, The Signet Collection will relaunch Barnsdale Lodge Hotel a historic hunting lodge tucked away in sleepy Rutland (a county tipped to become as sought after as The Cotswolds), can Hector and his team secure a hat-trick?! Watch this space…

The Signet Collection offers rooms at The Retreat at Elcot Park (www.retreatelcotpark.com) from £150 per night based on two people sharing a double room on a B&B basis.
