DALLAS— In the spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic was emerging, the portfolio of Dallas-based Prism Hotels & Resorts, an award-winning, full service hotel management, investment and advisory services company, was already showing market share gain. As the company enters the fourth quarter of 2020, it has announced a growth and promotion of personnel at the corporate level to better handle the new normal and uptick in and mix of business it anticipates moving forward. Moves impact seven separate employees across departments including sales & marketing, accounting and operations. The announcement was made by Steve Van, President & CEO of Prism Hotels & Resorts.
“While many in our industry have been forced to make difficult decisions regarding personnel, we are proud to not only retain our strong and resilient team, but to celebrate these well-deserved promotions and additions to the Prism family,” said Van. “We pride ourselves on our ability to bring an elevated level of client service, consistent and meaningful communication, and a relentless pursuit of innovation, to be the absolute best we can be. These principles have driven personnel decisions and helped guide talent to where it’s needed most, providing clarity and efficiency across departments. The Prism Difference is at work every day at this company and we’re eager to take on the future together.”
On Prism’s operations team, Chris Charbonnet has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President of Prism Lender Services. Charbonnet brings vast experience in this discipline from his past experiences both prior to and during his tenure at Prism.
Jamer Samonte has been promoted to the position of Regional Vice President of Operations where he will take up the MSO (Most Satisfied Owner) commitment on several Prism hotels and support the company’s CMBS and receivership efforts.
Prism has re-hired Jansen Medeiros as Regional Vice President of Operations to assist on consulting and asset management projects that have recently been acquired. Over the past 20 years, Medeiros has developed a deep understanding of hotel and asset management getting his start managing all resort departments and eventually running a resort at the executive level. More recently, Medeiros excelled in positions as Managing Director and Vice President of Operations providing leadership for two large full-service independent resorts in Hawaii and 15 branded hotels across Arizona, California and Texas.
On the sales and marketing side, the company welcomes new Regional Director of Sales, Shannon Kane. Kane comes to Prism after ten successful years at LodgeWorks, where she held a number of roles, most recently as a regional director supporting four brands with sales, training, onboarding, revenue and strategy. She will be based in her hometown of Seattle, WA. Additionally, both Beth Mahony and Jeff Miller have been promoted to the position of Vice President of Sales. Mahony and Miller have been instrumental in guiding Prism’s growth strategy over the past 6 months by working to improve revenue at the hotels, provide constant communication for ownership groups, and onboard new properties.
To further help support Prism’s portfolio, Marilyn Beacham will join the accounting team as a new Senior Accounting Manager. In her position, Marilyn will be responsible for overseeing the financial statement process for a portfolio of hotels to include journal entries and the compilation of month-end reports. Marilyn brings to her position over 30 years of hotel accounting experience at both the corporate and property level.
Prism points to several decisions and critical factors that have led to success, including early detection, zero corporate layoffs, sales training for all general managers, re-positioning the company’s sales approach pre-pandemic to capture available opportunities effectively, and an overall company culture of compassion that has produced a tangible competitive advantage. It’s what the company calls the “Prism Difference.”
