DENVER–Sage Hospitality Group, along with Walnut Development Partners and EXDO Development, today celebrated the topping off of the unique hotel development at 3770 Walnut St. in Denver’s popular RiNo Art District and announced the long-awaited name of the independent new concept: Catbird.
Catbird is an independent hotel, focusing on extended stay guests and urban convenience. Inspired by the feeling of home, Catbird will blur the lines between hotel and home by creating adaptable spaces that foster a deeper sense of belonging for its guests and the community. The result is a hotel where opposing forces thrive together and inspiration is gathered from unlikely places, melding together to create unique experiences.
Sitting pretty in Denver’s most energetic and exciting neighborhood, Catbird’s creative lobby will be a perfect environment for work or just chilling with a refreshing beverage and friends. Comprised of comfortable spaces, easy grab-and-go food options, a not-to-be-missed bar and a rooftop patio worth seeking out, this hotel creates all the feelings that travel should evoke while making every visitor and local feel right at home.

Catbird’s 165 guest rooms will emphasize the coveted comforts that people experience at home, brought to life in a hotel. Each room will feature full kitchens with functional high-end housewares, unique storage and beautiful multi-functional furniture that help the spaces realize their larger potential. Business travel warriors will appreciate the business-friendly features, and guests will love the high-tech entertainment equipment. Each guest floor will host complimentary laundry services as well as a water filling station that dispenses still and sparkling water.
Paying homage to the history of the neighborhood around it, Catbird encompasses a 3,600 square foot, four-bedroom historic home, originally built in 1890, which has been preserved as part of the hotel. The spacious home will be completely updated with high-design, high-touch amenities and décor making it a true home away from home for guests to reserve during their time in Denver.
Just like home – Catbird doesn’t skimp on the amenities. The hotel will be home to a gear locker stocked with bikes, skateboards, scooters, cameras and other items that will all be available for guests to borrow and use as they explore Denver. Amenities will also include package delivery lockers and a guest storage area where repeat guests can leave often-used items, and there’s even a dog run for man’s best friend. For those who don’t want to break their workout routine, the hotel’s state of the art fitness center will feature a full complement of Peloton bikes, Peloton treadmills, water rowing machines, cross trainers, and free weights.
The rooftop at Catbird will feature a stunning, yet-to-be-named indoor bar and an inviting outdoor deck with lounge seating and firepits, perfect for enjoying unobstructed views of the Denver skyline with friends and colleagues. The rooftop will also be home to an additional 3,300 square foot deck that will be dedicated to hosting corporate and social events. Guests will be sure to enjoy the two jacuzzi tubs and a beautiful area of green grass up on the roof, perfect for morning yoga.
The hotel will be home to an extensive, inspiring art collection curated by Nine dot Arts. Meant to be both oddly comforting and refreshing, looking at any piece in the collection always starts with the question, “What is that?” The collection will provide a peek into what is happening in the avant-garde, outsider art scene, in Denver and around the world.

The overall concept for Catbird, including the amenities and food and beverage outlets, has been curated and directed by the team at Sage Studio, a Sage Hospitality Group company. Sage Studio is dedicated to creating spaces that fuse creativity and ingenuity to light the way for a new standard in hospitality. From restaurants, to branded hotels, to soft brands and independent properties, Sage Studio creates brands rooted in concise and exciting messaging that allows hotels to tell their unique story.

Denver-based architecture firm Shears Adkins Rockmore Architects (SA+R), known for its many residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces throughout the city, has led the design of the building. General construction has been led by Katerra Construction, LLC and Farrington Construction Management. Guestroom interior designs are by the award-winning DLR group, whose work includes countless properties in Denver and across the globe. Lobby and Rooftop interior design are being completed by Denver-based Swan Dive Design Studio. Brand concept and design is being led by Portland-based OMFGCO, known for their internationally influential work in the hospitality space and beyond.
Catbird is slated to open in Spring 2021
