Anguilla’s Malliouhana Resort to Operate Independently Once Again

ANGUILLA – Malliouhana Resort, the flagship of Anguilla’s luxury tourism industry and the first five-star hotel in Anguilla, announced today that it will return to operating as independent property, led by Storey Hotel Management Group, an operator of independent luxury properties worldwide.

“Storey is thrilled to add Malliouhana Resort to its growing portfolio of luxury properties and to work with the experienced and loyal team of professionals at Malliouhana,” said Mike Casey, founder of Storey Hotel Management Group. “We take pride in allowing each property to embrace its most unique and authentic self. Storey supports staff members to inject local customs and traditions within its guest experience to create lasting memories. Anguilla and Malliouhana are steeped with vibrant culture and fascinating history waiting to be shared with visitors from around the world.”

The handover of Malliouhana on April 1 marks the second management transition from Auberge Resorts Collection to Storey Hotel Management Group. In February 2022, Storey added multi-award-winning Fijian property Nanuku Resort to its growing portfolio of luxury hotels, ushering in a new era of expertise and focused support. Under Storey Hotel Management Group, Nanuku Resort was awarded #2 best resort in the South Pacific and featured on the cover of the November 2022 “Reader’s Choice Awards” issue of Condé Nast Traveler.

The Malliouhana family will continue to operate under the leadership of General Manager George Vlachopoulos and Director of Sales Miguel Carrillo, along with the dedication and care of its long-time employees.

Sage Hospitality Group Welcomes The Pierside in Santa Monica to Growing Portfolio of Independent Hotels

DENVER – Sage Hospitality Group announced today the recent addition of The Pierside Hotel (The Pierside) in Santa Monica, Calif., to the company’s portfolio of more than 110 hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues in 14 states. The Pierside joins the Sage Independent Hotel Collection, bringing the number of fully independent, lifestyle hotels that Sage operates to 18.

“The Pierside Hotel is the 11th property added to our independent portfolio in less than two years, which certainly reaffirms our deep commitment to becoming America’s favorite lifestyle hospitality company by continuing to build our presence in the independent segment,” said Daniel del Olmo, president of hotels and restaurants for Sage Hospitality Group. “I am also proud to continue expanding our working relationship with RLJ Lodging Trust. The Pierside represents the fifth hotel we currently manage for the company, and we are honored to be entrusted with helping them reimagine and bring the property to life.”

Following a multi-million-dollar reimagination as a premium lifestyle hotel, The Pierside officially opened its doors to guests in late January. Perfectly located at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue, just steps from the famed Santa Monica Pier, The Pierside is the closest to that iconic destination and the first hotel to open on Ocean Avenue in more than a decade. With 132 guestrooms and suites, The Pierside boasts sweeping ocean views; an inviting and laid-back atmosphere; The Boardshop, a full-service gear rental; beach butler services; and renowned artist Shepard Fairey’s largest mural in the Los Angeles area. The Surfing Fox, the property’s signature restaurant that will be operated by Sage Restaurant Concepts, anchors Pierside as a day-to-night dining destination. Inspired by an admiration for Santa Monica and its community, the restaurant will serve California-sourced spirits, beers and wines and an approachable but indulgent menu.
